The "One Year Princess Devotional" by Karen Whiting is an adorable devotional designed for young girls. The book is specifically written for preschool aged children, so the words are simple, messages are clear, and devotionals are concise and easy to remember. Each devotional is only one page long, with large writing. Each devotional consists of a Bible verse, then an explanation of that verse, a prayer, and a way that your little princess can apply that message to her own life.
There were so many things I loved about this devotional. First, the fact that it was specifically written for young children in mind, so everything is easy to understand, and it is written in simple English that is easy for young children to understand and comprehend. I also really liked the application to a child that was included. Sometimes I find it hard to explain exactly how a verse can translate for a child to understand, but Karen Whiting does so perfectly. I also liked that each devotional was not very long, which made me feel like the message was concise and easy for my child to remember the overall meaning and message.
I would recommend this devotional for kids aged 3-6. I think it's a great way to start off young children with a devotional routine, and I think it was completely age appropriate.

Biff & Becka's Stupendous Vacation
"Biff & Becka's Stupendous Vacation" is a children's book written by Elaine Beachy. My five year old really enjoyed this book, and I thought that it was a great book for her age group.. I would recommend this book for the 5-8 year old age group. Biff and Becka are brother and sister rabbits who are excited to go on their annual summer vacation with their family as the story begins. However, things don't work out exactly as Biff had planned, and the family has to take their vacation at home.
Through their staycation and the activities and experiences that Biff and Becka share, this book teaches little ones several things, including how to deal with disappointment when things don't turn out the way they had hoped. This book also touches on how to deal with other kids when they hurt your feelings or pick on you, which I appreciated. As the mother of a child getting ready to start school, I felt that this book really helped reinforce the idea that, "you aren't what someone else says you are".
I would give this book a 5/5, and highly recommend it for kids in the 5-8 year old range. It would be a great book to read with your children, or for them to read on their own. The language isn't overly complicated, and it would be easy for most early readers to understand on their own. The morals and values in this book are Bible-based, and completely relevant to young children and their family, friendships, and experiences. Great book.

You'll Get Through This
Max Lucado's book, entitled, "You'll Get Through This : Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times" is a wonderful book that is jam packed with hope for those in times of need. Who among us hasn't felt like we are in a terrible situation and silently asked ourselves why God hasn't helped us? Whether it is a medical issue, relationship issue, familial issue, or something completely different that you are struggling with, this book will give you hope.
Max Lucado uses his typical writing style, combining stories of Biblical strength, hope, and faith with stories of everyday folks and their stories to create a book filled with reason to be hopeful. We know that God doesn't enjoy seeing his children struggle, but this book really sheds light on how these trials and tests can be for a purpose! And not just any purpose - God's!
This book chronicles the life of Joseph interwoven with modern day trials and tragedies to build inspiration and faith. Loved every minute of it.

NIV College Devotional Bible
The NIV College Devotional Bible is a Bible designed for college aged young adults. Published by Zondervan, this Bible is a traditional NIV translation with special features that are designed for young adults to help them continue to grow in God's love and follow his plans.
The Bible is organized in a traditional way, from Genesis to Revelations, however, every few pages offers up a devotional type of Bible study. Using a seemingly non-Biblical story or reference, the devotional ties in the message of that particular section of the Bible, along with a few questions meant to encourage self-reflection and thought.
The text size is standard, making it easy to read. Also included in the back of the Bible is a Table of Weights and Measures to help understand some of the Biblical references, One year reading plan, as well as several 30 Days plans (30 Days in the Psalms, 30 Days with Paul, etc.). It also offers a few journaling pages at the very back, for taking note of anything important to the reader.
Overall, I would say that this is a traditional NIV Bible. The devotions are really what make it geared toward the college age reader, with a focus on issues and problems that they may face, as well as keeping their focus where it needs to be in order to have a successful walk with Christ in their college years. I think this Bible does a good job of combining a study Bible with a traditional NIV Bible in this way. I would recommend this Bible for anyone in college. Great resource.

NKJV Ignite
"IGNITE : The Bible for Teens" is a great study tool for young adults who are seeking out who they are, and who they desire to be as they discover Gods' plan for their lives. "Ignite" offers a traditional New King James Version Bible translation coupled with in depth tools for truly studying God's word, and receiving the messages within to the fullest.
"Ignite" offers special segments within each chapter, such as in depth summaries of the chapters, with key information about the author, time written, purpose of the chapter, how it can be applied to our lives. There is also a small segment called "Spotlight" which focuses on a specific part of the reading and the application it has in our lives today. "Flashpoint" is another feature that appears in this Bible, that tackles a subject that teens struggle with, and tie it in to a particular reading in the Bible (for example, a section on depression appears in 1 Kings, along with a discussion about Elijah and his experiences), words of wisdom to help as well as information on where else that subject is discussed in the Bible.
The "Soul Fuel" icons appear frequently throughout this Bible, with important and very relevant Bible verses highlighted. "White Hot Topic" is another feature in this Bible that devotes an entire page to a specific topic, with a detailed description of the topic, as well as the Biblical tie-in to help.
I think this is a great study Bible for teens and young adults. I would say appropriate ages of 13-21, as a lot of the information is geared to the issues facing teens and young adults. Would be a great Bible for anyone in this age group! Love it - 5/5!

Bedtime Stories and Prayers
"Bedtime Stories and Prayers" is a collection of "Little Blessings" stories that are the perfect reading selection for young children. This book offers four wonderful children's stories that are great for bedtime. Children will read: "Bedtime Blessings" by Dandi Daley Mackall, "Thank You, God!" by Kathleen Long Bostrom, "Blessings Everywhere" by Dandi Daley Mackall, and "God Loves You" by Kathleen Long Bostrom.
These stories are perfect for young children, as they use simple words that are easy for children to understand, and offer vivid, beautiful illustrations that go hand in hand with the stories. The language used in these stories is often repetitive, which I've found helps the child remember the story. With themes such as thankfulness, God's love, and blessings, these are the ideal messages for young children to hear before bed.
I think this book would be perfect for children ages 2-6, and I would highly recommend them to any parent of grandparent. Wonderfully written, beautifully illustrated, and awesome messages.

New Spirit-Filled Life Bible (NLT)
The New Spirit-Filled Life Bible, NLT is an awesome tool in discovering deeper meaning and developing a better understanding of your Bible. This Bible is a traditional NLT Bible in its wording and translation, however it offers many extra resources that other Bibles do not to help you truly get the most out of your Bible study time. Periodically there is a "Word Wealth" box that appears in the text that takes a word used in that section of the reading and elaborates on the deeper meaning of that word, as well as some interesting facts about how it is used in the Bible, or the history of the word itself. This Bible also offers "Kingdom Dynamics" which are small boxes that appear within the text that offers an elaboration on a particular verse, which ties in the theme of that verse with a more modern understanding of it. This Bible also offers TONS of footnotes at the bottom of each page, which I find particularly useful in really getting the most out of the reading. Each chapter also offers a section called "Truth in Action", which uses a chart to help you understand the truths that each chapter teaches us, as well as examples of verses that can be referenced to understand those truths better.
I love this Bible, and will definitely be using it on a regular basis for my own reading and study. I would HIGHLY recommend this particular Bible to anyone looking for a Bible that offers a reading that can be studied and give you a deeper perspective. I would give this Bible a 5/5.
